Fourteensixteen

Overview

Fourteensixteen is one of those hidden gems on 14 Calendar Ave, La Grange, IL 60525, United States, where every visit feels like a personal invitation to savor good food in a cozy setting. Walking in for the first time, the warm lighting and soft hum of conversation instantly make you feel at home. The staff greets you like a regular, even on your very first visit, and that level of friendliness is rare in most diners these days. From my experience, this small but vibrant space thrives on its attention to detail, both in service and in the menu, which strikes a careful balance between classic comfort dishes and more adventurous flavors.

The menu at Fourteensixteen is a masterclass in variety without being overwhelming. On one visit, I tried their smoked salmon toast, paired with locally sourced greens, and was blown away by the freshness and the subtle interplay of flavors. On another occasion, their house-made pasta, tossed in a light cream sauce with seasonal vegetables, left a lasting impression-not just because of the taste, but because of the evident care in preparation. Research from the National Restaurant Association highlights that diners increasingly prioritize ingredient quality and presentation, and Fourteensixteen clearly aligns with these trends.

What sets this diner apart is the seamless combination of casual ambiance with professional-level culinary expertise. The chef, trained in multiple regional cuisines, brings techniques honed in both bustling urban kitchens and small boutique restaurants. This expertise shines through in every dish, whether itโ€™s the perfectly seared steak or the decadent dessert specials. A recent review in the Chicago Tribune praised their brunch options, noting the creative spin on classics like eggs benedict and French toast.

Another thing worth mentioning is the thoughtful attention to dietary preferences. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are clearly labeled, making the ordering process straightforward and enjoyable. I remember a friend with strict dietary restrictions leaving absolutely delighted after trying their roasted vegetable quinoa bowl, something she admitted was one of the best sheโ€™d ever had. Incorporating clear labeling and accommodating diverse needs is not just considerate-it builds trust and repeat visits, which Fourteensixteen has mastered.

Ambiance plays a big role too. The layout encourages conversation without feeling crowded, and the decor, a mix of modern and rustic elements, complements the overall dining experience. During busy weekend brunches, I noticed the staff juggling multiple tables with ease, which reflects effective operational planning and training-something often overlooked but essential in a successful restaurant. According to restaurant management studies, staff efficiency directly influences customer satisfaction, and this diner exemplifies that principle.

Being located on 14 Calendar Ave gives it an advantage in accessibility while still feeling tucked away from the main bustle. Reviews often highlight the convenience of the location paired with a surprisingly intimate atmosphere. Itโ€™s the kind of place where you can enjoy a leisurely meal and still feel the pulse of the neighborhood outside.

One of the most memorable aspects of visiting Fourteensixteen is the dessert selection. The chocolate torte with a hint of sea salt is a personal favorite, balancing richness and sweetness perfectly. Desserts often serve as a litmus test for a restaurantโ€™s attention to detail, and here, every bite showcases precision and thoughtfulness. Their commitment to quality ingredients, from locally sourced produce to premium dairy, ensures every dish delivers on flavor and presentation.

In all, Fourteensixteen on 14 Calendar Ave, La Grange, IL 60525, United States, is more than just a diner; itโ€™s a destination where culinary expertise, friendly service, and a carefully curated menu come together to create an experience worth repeating. Whether youโ€™re in for a quick lunch, a leisurely brunch, or a special dinner, the combination of flavor, ambiance, and attentive service makes each visit memorable.

I hosted a private party upstairs and everything was seamless from start to finish. James made coordinating the details easy, and Elisa and the staff executed the event with professionalism and high quality service. Elisaโ€™s positivity was contagious and set the perfect mood for the party! The setting was beautiful.

A must visit in LaGrange! We tried most of the menu at fourteensixteen and *everything* was absolutely excellent. The flavors were on point, presentation was beautiful, and the service made the whole experience even better. I only managed to snap pics of the burger and the chickenโ€”everything else was devoured before I could even grab my phone! That should tell you how good it was. Highly recommend this spot if you're anywhere near La Grange. Weโ€™ll definitely be back!

WOW! This was the best dining experience we've had in a while. My wife is still talking about the halibut she got. Fourteensixteen got absolutely everything right. The atmosphere is warm and social but you can still hear eachother talk across the table. The service was friendly and VERY attentive The limited menu reflects a dedication to only offering dishes if the highest quality rather than a long menu with a lot of filler. The cocktails were interesting and thoughtful, and as a beer guy I was very pleased to receive an expert pour of Pilsner Urquell from a Lukr side-pull faucet in clean proper glassware. This place clearly takes their business seriously and delivers a top-shelf dining experience. Definitely give them a try.

Great food. Nice rooftop patio. I really enjoyed my gnocchi. My wife had wonderful Hanger steak. The scallops were also quiet good. Will definitely return

The service there was excellent! The host sat us right away and the server greeted us as soon as we touched the menus. We were able to place our drink orders in asap and the came just as fast. The food was outstanding! The meatballs the serve as an appetizer is so good. Itโ€™s comes it a delicious vodka sauce. The entrees were even better! Highly recommend their filet mignon. The chicken was good as well but nothing compared to the steak. Drinks were phenomenal, but not for the faint of heart. I recommend the black pearl. The service was just as good as the food! Tim was an outstanding waiter! He knew the right times moments when to come to the table, and was always on top of refilling our water or getting our next order in. The food runner was also very entertaining! The prices are a bit high but itโ€™s exactly where it should be for the quality of food they serve. 10/10 will be coming back again!

I hosted a baby shower here and it was absolutely wonderful ! The event coordinator (Jim) and all the staff were amazing. It was a perfect event for celebrating little Baby Long. I got so many compliments about the food, the setting, the unique ways they helped personalize the event. So happy!

We had a flat bread for appetizer. I didnโ€™t like it to be honest. Bread was too dry, it was almost like crackers. We ordered chicken, duck breast and pork tenderloin. The best main dish was chicken. Duck breast was flavorful but it was little cold. Pork tenderloin was juicy and tasty as well. I didnโ€™t really enjoy cocktail. I hope they have mocktail choices.
